Bagels: the breakfast with a hole

Monday, June 25th, 2007

okay minions, you have a task – help pick the next venue!

while we know the general location (ie brick lane) we need an actual place to eat – from what i can tell, we’ve got the choice of either Beigel Bake or the Beigel Shop; however i haven’t been able to find any info on two important things, namely provision seating and coffee

i would scout the place out myself, but i’m naively hoping that through the mystical power of the internet i won’t have to

prove me right by filling in the blanks on those two places or leaving your suggestion for somewhere else; you’ve got one week, after which time i’ll pick the best one and we’ll go there – just remember, it needs to serve coffee and bagels, have enough seating for us all, and be on/near brick lane

a breakfast fit for a king

okay so i’m stretching it slightly given it was the Regency Cafe we went to, but i’ve been wanting to use that title for a while, and this seemed to be the most appropriate time

anyway, it was a good proper place, just look at it (ain’t it grand)

it was quite empty when i arrived, but filled up pretty quickly, so it was fortunate for joel that there was still space for him when he finally rocked up (after both oversleeping and getting lost coming out of the tube!)

still, he did arrive, and along with adrian, that meant we had an about average turnout – yay!

mmm.. a plate full of food, and one which was both tasty and reasonably priced – if it weren’t so out of the way for us all i’d definitely recommend going back; but as it is, next month we’re planning to head to brick lane for bagels (so put that in your diaries – 11th July)

June at the Regency Cafe

it’s not that we haven’t planned ahead or anything, oh no, we just like to make you wait to see where we’re going next – so anyway this month we’re off to deepest, darkest pimlico (which is also the nearest, but not necessarily the most convenient tube) and the regency cafe (as featured in layer cake – how exciting) all the other bloggers seem to have been here (and they all liked it) so we figured it might be an idea to do so too
