March’s breakfast (as you might have guessed) will be held at Diana’s Diner, which is at 39 Endell Street – click here for a map of the location – on Wednesday the 12th from 7.30 or so
Last month’s turn out was particularly impressive, and between the 10 or so of us and the camera-woman and the presenter from Korea Broadcasting Service, we pretty much filled the upstairs room of the Market Cafe! The food was good, and very reasonably priced – and getting your orange juice served up fresh in a pint bottle was an interesting twist.
Between the usual breakfast banter and polishing off the delicious fry-up nosh, we held forth to the Korean camera on the significance of the great English breakfast, the importance of tea, and such like – and even managed to slip in a thought from that great man, W. Somerset Maugham: “To eat properly in England, one must have breakfast three times a day”. Thus, to the either the benefit or the detriment of cross-cultural understanding, the people of Korea will soon be graced with the phenomenon that is … Breakfast Wednesday.
