May Breakfast

Thursday, May 12th, 2011

First, an apology once more – it seems that we have failed again to get our breakfast in for the second Wednesday of the month – however, given that it was a mere fortnight ago that we were breakfasting atop Paramount, turning around another breakfast quite so soon and with all those long weekends to contend with was a bit too much of a challenge.   So, this month’s breakfast will be Wednesday May 18th.

Having considered various options, it seemed a fitting farewell to my current place of employment to hold this month’s breakfast in the Treasury canteen.  All the more so given that in the three years I’ve been there,  I’ve made far too little use of the facility to roll out of bed and straight onto the tube to load up on a full English or a bacon butty on arrival before heaving myself upstairs to my desk.

Given the venue, if you are planning to come along to this one then you’re going to have to let me know in advance so that I can inform reception and sign you in – if you don’t let me know in advance you may not be able to get in. So drop me an email, a text or respond to the Facebook invite and I’ll make sure you’re on the list.

Date of Breakfasting: Wednesday 18th May

Time: 8:00am – 9:00am

A Room With A View

Thursday, May 12th, 2011

I can think of no more apt description of Paramount.  In case you haven’t been keeping up with the blog, Paramount is the restaurant at the top of the 32 floor Centrepoint sky-scraper next to Tottenham Court Road tube station.

Turnout for the breakfast was predictably low, given that it ended up being in one of the few ‘working’ days between Easter and that wedding – but the absentees certainly missed out, for we had the whole place to ourselves .. and very nice that was too.  I can’t speak for how busy the place is on a normal morning, but my guess is that you could probably be pretty sure of a window-seat (which they are careful to state that they can’t guarantee you on the website).

While the view is amazing, that is by no means the only quality to recommend about breakfast at Paramount – because the service and the food were spectacular also.   However you’re just going to have to take my word on it for the view and the breakfast for the moment, because nowhere on the web seems to want to let me upload photos at the moment.
